Liam’s Leaf Collage

by | Craft

We were out at the dome and Liam found some leaves. I lost them and when we were leaving Liam asked for his leaves. He was so upset that I convinced him that we needed a lot of leaves and happily Liam collected a lot of leaves. I told him we would make a picture from them.

Some benefits to children for making collages are:

Practice hand and eye coordination

Exploring different textures and different colours

Bring out their creativity

Practice hand and finger control this can help improve writing skills

and having fun.

We got home but were a little busy so the next day we made our collage.

You need:

The leaves you collect

Blue tac

Clear Contact

A4 paper

Cut the contact into the shape you require. For this activity we used square but other times I have used hearts and circles.

Attach the blue tack to the clear side of the contact and stick the blue tac to your work surface.

Peel of the backing piece

The artist can decorate the contact with their leaves.

Once they have finished their creation place the A4 paper over the contact turn it over rub the contact so it all sticks.

There is your little artist’s collage.

You can substitute the leaves for other collage materials e.g., sequins, paper cut outs, any other items you can use for collage.
