How To Recycle Egg Shells At Home

by | Gardening

Today I’m going to tell you how to recycle egg shells which there are a few ways to recycle them.

1 Firstly, one way to recycle eggshells is by just throwing them into a garden bed and the egg shell will then leach out all the calcium and other minerals from the eggshells into the soil over a few weeks to few months depending on the temperature, humidity and water applied on the garden.  When eggshells get thrown onto the garden it can also act as a snail repellent, snails don’t like crossing the eggshells because it cuts their soft bodies.

2 Another of the methods could be to put the eggshells in a compost bin and make some compost with the eggshell which can make a high calcium compost and calcium is one of the 6 macronutrients.  A macronutrient is a nutrient that a plant or all plants need the most of calcium is specifically a secondary nutrient which is the second most important group of nutrients for plants.

3 The last method I’m going to mention is that you can put the eggshells into the oven for a few minutes to dry the shells out and then crush the eggshells into a powder and spring onto the garden.  This method of recycling the nutrients in the eggshells is available more easily to the ground and adds nutrients faster but the shells don’t act as a snail repellent like the first method
