Sloppy Joes
I heard of sloppy Joe’s from tv but I had never had them. Some American missionaries that we knew came over and made us some for dinner one day last year. My children have occasionally asked for them since then.
They showed up on the menu at work, so I cooked them at work a few times. I know the recipe is different from what the missionaries used. Ashley asked me one day “what did you cook at work today “ when I told her it was sloppy Joe’s she asked if we could have them at home.
Ingredients
1 kg of mince
2 onions finely diced
2 carrots grated
Tablespoon of garlic
Small tin of tomato paste
Cup of water
Tablespoon of brown sugar
For serving
Burger buns (at work we use toast)
Lettuce
Grated cheese
Diced tomatoes
Grated carrot
Method
Fry onion till see through. Add mince and brown.
Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 30 min
Place cooked mixture into your burger bun ( or on your toast) and enjoy.
You can have your little salad on the side or you can place them into your burger.
At work we put the salad on the side and at home my children had a choice of half place into burger half had on the side. Liam just added cheese to his burger. He loves his cheese.
