Spider Halloween Biscuits, Made with Oreo’s
Halloween is a fun time of the year but trick or treating isn’t widely celebrated in Western Australia. We don’t let our children go trick or treating even though they want to.
The younger 2 dressed up in their costumes and were waiting for trick or treaters to come but none did. I think this was due to the awful weather we had.
To get into the Halloween spirit I thought we could make some Halloween biscuits. I came across these great spider biscuits.
We used Oreo biscuits for the body. We had candy eyes in the cake decorating box for their eyes and I cut up sour straps for the legs. I made up some icing to stick them all together.
I was holding the biscuit and squeezing the icing along the side and trying to squash the legs in. I accidentally pulled the top of the biscuit off and found that it was much easier to put the legs on and just used the icing to glue it back together.
While I was making the spider biscuits the children were decorating milk arrowroot biscuits. I didn’t have orange food colouring so I used yellow and red. Alway put the yellow in first then slowly add the red.
I cut up lots of lollies for them for decorations.
Musk sticks
Jelly beans
Sour straps
Bananas
Snakes
And they had lots of coloured writing icing but just used black because it was Halloween.
It is an activity that all the children enjoyed, especially eating them after. Ashley has asked if we can decorate more for Christmas.
